Somali referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan has been appointed to officiate Morocco’s first-leg match against Niger in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign in November.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the match officials for Morocco’s back-to-back fixtures against Niger in the third and fourth rounds of the qualifiers.

Artan will take charge of the first encounter at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca on November 13, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00 local time.

Hamza Haji Abdi and Ali Mahamud Mahad will serve as assistant referees for the match.

Ethiopian referee appointed for second leg

Morocco and Niger will meet again four days later, on November 17, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

Ethiopian referee Tewodros Mitiku has been selected to officiate the second fixture, with compatriots Fasika Biru Yehualashet and Tigle Gizaw Belachew appointed as assistant referees.

Both matches are part of the qualifying campaign for the 2027 AFCON, with Morocco seeking to strengthen their position in Group A.

Morocco aim to maintain top spot

The Atlas Lions currently lead their qualifying group after recording consecutive victories against Gabon and Lesotho in September.

Two more wins against Niger would further consolidate Morocco’s position at the summit of Group A as they continue their push to qualify for the continental tournament.
