Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca said he was delighted after his side beat Ipswich Town 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday to make it seven consecutive Premier League victories.
The run means Maresca has become the first manager to win each of his opening seven league matches in charge of a club, surpassing the previous achievements of Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Maresca arrived at City before the current season after leaving Chelsea halfway through the 2025/26 campaign. He has now won nine of his 11 matches as City manager.
“First of all, I am very happy because it’s a matter of winning games in this business,” said Maresca at the post-match conference.
“We were able to win seven in a row and what made me very happy was day-by-day with the players, the way they are working and how I can see them improving.
“Today I thought we controlled the game, created chances and were good off the ball. We are doing well and I think that’s the most important thing.”
The victory was City’s response to their midweek UEFA Champions League defeat by Paris Saint-Germain.
It also maintained their six-point advantage at the top of the Premier League, with Arsenal due to face Nottingham Forest.
