UEFA has appointed English referee Michael Oliver to take charge of Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League meeting with Barcelona at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday.

The fixture is part of the third round of matches in the league phase of the competition.

Oliver’s appointment will be welcomed by Paris Saint-Germain, who beat Barcelona 2-1 in Catalonia when the referee oversaw the sides’ previous meeting in October 2025.

Ferran Torres put Barcelona ahead in that match, but Paris Saint-Germain came from behind through goals from Senny Mayulu and Goncalo Ramos.

The English official has refereed Barcelona in five matches and Paris Saint-Germain in six during his career.

Paris Saint-Germain have recorded four wins, one draw and one defeat in matches under Oliver. Barcelona’s record with him in charge is one victory, two draws and two defeats.

Oliver also refereed Real Madrid’s match against Inter on 8 September. On Thursday, he took charge of Olympiacos’ Europa League fixture against Marseille, which the Greek side won 1-0.

The referee was involved in four matches at the last World Cup, including the group-stage game between France and Norway.

Barcelona head into Tuesday’s match in strong form, having won 11 consecutive games in all competitions since the start of the season. Their latest victory came on Saturday, when they defeated Real Betis 5-2 in La Liga.

Paris Saint-Germain are also enjoying a positive run. They have won their past six matches, most recently beating Strasbourg 3-1 on Saturday.

The French side also recorded a notable victory last Wednesday, defeating Manchester City 4-2.
