Africa football news: Ibrahima Sory Bangoura extends KRC Genk contract to 2030

Ibrahima Sory Bangoura has signed a new contract with KRC Genk that will keep the Guinea defensive midfielder at the Belgian club until 30 June 2030.

The 22-year-old joined KRC Genk in the summer of 2022 and has now committed his future to the club for several more seasons. The agreement was confirmed on KRC Genk’s website.

Bangoura is currently valued at €6m. His performances had attracted interest from Club Bruges, who were monitoring him several months ago, as reported exclusively by Africafoot. The Blauw en Zwart are reportedly still keeping him on their shortlist.

The midfielder’s renewal is one of three developments involving African players reported on 18 October 2026, alongside interest in Zambia forward Jack Lahne and a new deal for Nolhan Courtens at SC Heerenveen.

Finnish clubs track Jack Lahne

Jack Lahne could continue his career in Finland, with KuPS and Inter Turku both seeking information about the Zambia international, according to journalist Rudy Galetti.

The two clubs are competing for the Finnish title and are considering a move for the 24-year-old forward, who is currently a free agent after leaving Austria Lustenau.

Lahne comes off a productive season in which he scored nine goals. His pace and versatility allow him to operate in several attacking positions, while his Swedish passport is also considered an advantage for the next stage of his career, according to the same report.

His estimated market value is €250,000.

Nolhan Courtens agrees Heerenveen extension

SC Heerenveen have announced a contract extension for Congolese (DR Congo) central midfielder Nolhan Courtens.

The Eredivisie club confirmed the agreement in a statement published on its website. Courtens, who is 19, has signed a deal running until 30 June 2030.

The contract also includes an option to extend the agreement by a further season. Courtens’ market value is estimated at €600,000.
