Bafana Bafana to face Benni McCarthy’s Kenya in crucial Afcon qualifiers

Bafana Bafana will host Kenya at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on 13 November as they begin a two-match 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying contest against the Harambee Stars.

The Group D fixture will kick off at 6pm, with South Africa then travelling to Nairobi for the return match on 17 November. Kenya are coached by South African football legend Benni McCarthy.

Pitso Mosimane’s side lead Group D after making a strong start to their qualifying campaign. They opened with a 2-1 victory over Guinea in Johannesburg before recording a 5-0 win against Eritrea in Egypt.

South Africa also defeated Egypt 1-0 in an international friendly in Cairo during the previous Fifa open window.

Those results helped Bafana Bafana climb to 48th in the Fifa rankings. They are currently ranked 10th in Africa.

Mosimane is expected to name his preliminary squad next week.
