A total of 57 participants, comprising 45 men and 12 women from various regions across the African continent, are engaged in this refresher course aimed at enhancing their skills and knowledge. The course is led by three CAF experts: Felix Tangawarima from Zimbabwe, Lim Lim Kee Chong from Mauritius, and Athanase Nkubito from Rwanda.
The curriculum covers a range of topics, including amendments to the laws of the game, match analysis, and tactical vigilance, providing a comprehensive overview to enrich the capabilities of the participants.
Eddy Maillet, the head of refereeing at CAF, outlines that the primary objective of the course is to prepare the next generation of referees and reinforce the monitoring and evaluation procedures for officiators. The “Elite B” category occupies an intermediary position between the “young hopefuls” and the more advanced “Elite A” level, serving as a crucial developmental stage for aspiring referees in African football.
