Jules Kounde considers Barcelona exit amid Premier League interest
Jules Kounde is reportedly considering leaving Barcelona after losing his regular starting place under Hansi Flick, with several Premier League clubs monitoring the defender ahead of the January transfer window.
According to journalist Ekrem Konur, the 27-year-old has been unsettled by his reduced role at Barcelona, where Eric Garcia has increasingly challenged him for a place in the starting lineup. Kounde was previously a regular under Flick but has recently spent several matches on the bench.
The situation has reportedly attracted interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, while Bayern Munich are also monitoring his availability. Kounde’s ability to play both right-back and centre-back makes him an attractive option for clubs looking to strengthen their defences.
Despite the growing speculation, Barcelona have not received a concrete offer for the France international. Reports suggest that a bid of around €60 million could prompt the Spanish champions to consider a sale as early as January.
Kounde remains under contract at Barcelona until June 2030, giving the club considerable negotiating leverage. However, his reduced playing time has raised questions about his long-term role in Flick’s plans.
The defender has previously acknowledged that his performances last season fell below his own standards and expressed his determination to regain his best form. A departure is therefore far from certain, particularly as he continues to compete for his place.
With several major clubs reportedly interested, Kounde’s situation could become one of the transfer stories to watch as the winter window approaches. For now, any move remains speculative, with no formal bid confirmed.
