Burkina Faso face Ghana with UFOA-B U17 top spot and semi-final places at stake

Burkina Faso and Ghana meet in a decisive Group A finale at the UFOA-B U17 2026 tournament, with both sides seeking to secure progress to the semi-finals.

The match will take place at the Stade du 4-Aout in Ouagadougou at 16:00 GMT, as the Etalons cadets take on the Black Starlets with first place in the group on the line.

Ghana lead the standings with six points after victories over Togo and Benin. They began the tournament with a 1-0 win against Togo before defeating Benin 3-1, giving them a one-point advantage over their hosts.

Burkina Faso have collected four points from their opening two matches. Mamadou Zongo’s side drew 0-0 with Benin before returning to winning ways with a 1-0 victory against Togo.

That result has kept Burkina Faso firmly in contention, and a home victory would move them above Ghana and send them through as group winners.

Qualification in the balance

The outcome carries significance beyond the battle for first place. Based on the current standings, and subject to the competition regulations, a draw would be enough to send both Ghana and Burkina Faso into the semi-finals.

For Burkina Faso, the fixture will also provide a demanding test of their defensive discipline. Ghana have already shown an ability to threaten in attack during the group stage, while the Etalons will be looking to build on their improved performance against Togo.

The match is expected to draw strong support at the Stade du 4-Aout, where Burkina Faso will aim to use home advantage to maintain their progress in the tournament.

The competition serves as a qualifying tournament for CAN U17 2027.
