Al Ahli Tripoli target first-leg advantage against Welwalo Adigrat in CAF Confederation Cup
Al Ahli Tripoli travel to Ethiopia on Friday, 16 October, aiming to secure an advantage against Welwalo Adigrat Uni in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup 2026-2027.
Kick-off is scheduled for 17:00 GMT at Dire Dawa Stadium, with the Libyan side seeking a positive result before the return fixture in Libya the following week.
Al Ahli Tripoli have made an impressive start to their campaign and will take confidence from their first-round performance against KMKM of Zanzibar. They won both legs, recording a 3-0 victory in the first match before completing a 4-0 success in the return.
The Libyan club therefore scored seven goals across the tie without conceding, giving their attack a strong platform ahead of their meeting with Welwalo Adigrat.
The Ethiopian side will look to use home advantage to contain their opponents and establish a solid position in the tie. Welwalo Adigrat progressed from the opening round after a closely contested tie against Al Hilal Port-Sudan.
They lost the first leg 2-1 but responded with a 2-1 victory in the return match. According to the available data, Welwalo Adigrat advanced over the two legs.
The hosts will need to remain disciplined at the back against an Al Ahli Tripoli team that has shown considerable attacking efficiency so far in the competition. For the visitors, the priority will be to turn that scoring form into a favourable result in Ethiopia before the return match in Libya.
