Zamalek have paid the outstanding dues owed to former Benin striker Samson Akinwola, as the Egyptian club continue efforts to settle their financial obligations to former players.
Zamalek treasurer Hossam El-Mandouh confirmed the payment in comments reported by the Zamalekawy App, saying the settlement had been reached between the club and the player in recent months.
Akinwola had previously obtained a ruling against Zamalek over unpaid dues stemming from his time at the Cairo-based club, where he played between 2022 and 2024.
El-Mandouh also revealed that the club were preparing to pay the outstanding amount owed to former Tunisia international Ferjani Sassi, with payment expected by the end of October.
He said the club’s management remained committed to honouring the settlements reached with former players before Zamalek secured their licence to participate in African competitions at the end of July.
The treasurer added that the club were working to secure sufficient funds to meet their financial obligations and avoid further disputes with former players and coaches, including potential complaints to world football governing body FIFA.
“Zamalek are making great efforts to provide sufficient financial liquidity to pay these obligations and settlements,” El-Mandouh said.
He added that the club intended to continue settling outstanding payments to ensure all parties received what they were owed and to prevent new disputes from arising.
The payments form part of Zamalek’s efforts to address their outstanding financial commitments as they seek to avoid further legal and administrative complications involving former members of the club.
