Lorient tie down teenage striker Mamadou Kone until 2030

FC Lorient have extended Mamadou Kone’s contract until June 2030 after the 19-year-old forward made an early impression in the club’s first team.

The Ivorian striker joined Lorient in September 2025 from the Africa Foot Academy in Mali. His new deal represents a long-term commitment from the Breton club to a player who is beginning to establish himself at professional level.

Kone has already made six appearances in Ligue 1 McDonald’s this season. He scored the only goal in Lorient’s 1-0 victory over RC Lens at Stade Bollaert, delivering a decisive contribution in one of the club’s standout moments of the campaign.

The teenager had previously demonstrated his goalscoring ability for Lorient’s reserve side. During the previous season, he scored nine goals in 24 National 1 appearances, statistics that helped accelerate his progress towards the senior squad.

By securing Kone’s future, Lorient have committed themselves to one of their most promising young players for the next four years. His current value is estimated at 2 million euros by Transfermarkt.

The extension gives Kone a stable platform to continue his development and build on the early expectations surrounding him. His path from Africa Foot to Lorient’s professional squad also underlines the importance of the academy in his emergence.

Lorient’s next challenge will come against AS Monaco in the seventh round of the French championship. The match is scheduled to take place shortly, with the listed odds putting AS Monaco at 2.06 to win, a draw at 3.50 and a Lorient victory at 3.40.
