Juventus winger Francisco Conceição responds to Mohamed Salah comparisons
Juventus winger Francisco Conceição has described Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah as a football legend after being compared to the former Roma star by his coach, Luciano Spalletti.
The Portuguese international said he was eager to learn from established players as he continued developing his game, while acknowledging that Juventus needed to improve their performances and results.
“I learn from many players, and Salah is a football legend. As for me, I am still young, and I am trying to learn from everyone to continue developing,” Conceição said in statements published by Marca.
Spalletti previously worked with Salah during his time as Roma coach.
Conceição happy at Juventus but demands improvement
Juventus paid more than 32 million euros to sign Conceição in the summer of 2025.
The winger said he felt supported at the Italian club but admitted that the team’s results had prevented him from enjoying his time there fully.
“I feel very comfortable here, because I have the trust of the coach, my teammates and everyone at the club,” Conceição said.
“But I do not feel the same satisfaction because the team does not achieve victories, and this is true”.
He added that expectations at Juventus remained high and stressed the need to improve in key areas to achieve the club’s objectives.
Conceição has scored one goal and provided one assist in 438 minutes of action since the start of the current season.
Portuguese winger identifies Juventus’ attacking problem
Following Juventus’ 1-1 draw against Cagliari, Conceição acknowledged that his team needed to become more effective against opponents who defended deep.
“I think it was the details that made the difference in that match, and that’s something we have to improve on,” he explained. “But playing against teams that put 11 players behind the ball is also difficult.”
The winger believes improving the team’s attacking effectiveness will be important to securing more victories.
“If we develop our offensive effectiveness, I think we will be more prepared to win.”
Conceição targets progress in Europa League
The Portuguese winger also has personal motivation connected to his father, Sergio Conceição, who gave him the opportunity to make his debut for Porto.
His father was part of the Standard Liège side eliminated by Celta Vigo in the first round of the 2006-07 UEFA Cup. Standard lost 1-0 at home before suffering a 3-0 defeat at Balaidos.
Asked about the importance of the Europa League to Juventus, Francisco Conceição said the players wanted to progress as far as possible in the competition.
