Moataz Gamal to join Zamalek for Rwandan Army clash

Zamalek head coach Moataz Gamal is expected to arrive in Kigali early on Friday to join the Egyptian club’s delegation ahead of their CAF Champions League match against Rwanda’s Army.

Gamal is scheduled to arrive in the Rwandan capital at 02:00 local time, just hours before the first leg of the second preliminary round tie at Amahoro Stadium.

The coach recently underwent surgery and was advised by his doctor to rest before travelling to Rwanda to rejoin his team.

His return comes at a crucial time for Zamalek, who are targeting a positive result away from home to strengthen their chances of progressing to the next round of Africa’s premier club competition.

Gamal is expected to take charge of the team for Friday’s encounter, with the technical staff working to ensure the players are prepared for the challenge.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 19:00 local time, with Zamalek hoping to bounce back from their recent 2-0 defeat by arch-rivals Al-Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League.

The White Knights will be aiming to secure an advantage in Rwanda before hosting Army in the return leg at Cairo International Stadium on 24 October. The second leg is scheduled to kick off at 20:00.

The two-legged tie will determine which side advances to the next round of the CAF Champions League.
