Black Maidens head coach Nana Joe Adarkwa has named his final 21-player squad for the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, with the return of forward Jessica Appiah Asamoah from injury providing a significant boost to Ghana’s campaign.

Appiah Asamoah has recovered in time to earn a place in the squad, strengthening Ghana’s attacking options ahead of the tournament.

Adarkwa has also included three players who have progressed from the U15 setup, with Christiana Ashiaku, Mavis Koah and Belinda Kpentey earning places in the final selection.

The trio’s promotion adds youthful talent to a squad that will be tasked with representing Ghana on the global stage.

Ashiaku and Kpentey will bolster the midfield, while Koah has been named among the defenders.

Their inclusion reflects the coaching staff’s willingness to integrate emerging talents into the U17 team as preparations intensify for the competition in Morocco.

The squad combines the three young players with returning forward Appiah Asamoah and other established members of the Black Maidens setup.

Belinda Maku Aklie, Rahima A. Napari and Josephine Nyanufule have been selected as the three goalkeepers.

In defence, Adarkwa will rely on Matilda A. B. Amoah, Hajara Adam, Latifa Musah, Mavis Koah, Rafia Osman, Juliana Gyekyewaa and Seraphina E. Esse to provide protection at the back.

The midfield contingent features Belinda Kpentey, Christiana Ashiaku, Benedicta D. Nkietah, Seidatu Wahab, Zeinab Shani and Sekinatu Amadu.

Up front, Priscilla Mensah, Linda Achiaa, Jessica A. Asamoah, Cynthia Obinsrewuo and Gloria A. Adomako will lead Ghana’s attacking efforts.

Black Maidens prepare for Morocco challenge

Ghana will head into the tournament hoping to make a strong impression, with Adarkwa expected to fine-tune his team ahead of the competition.

The return of Appiah Asamoah offers an additional attacking option, while the inclusion of the U15 graduates provides an opportunity for the country’s emerging talents to gain experience at the highest level of youth women’s football.

With his final 21 players now selected, Adarkwa can focus on shaping the squad into a competitive unit capable of meeting the demands of the World Cup.

The Black Maidens will look to combine their attacking quality, midfield energy and defensive organisation as they prepare to compete against some of the best young women’s teams in the world.
