Victor Osimhen has expressed his admiration for FC Barcelona before Galatasaray face the Catalan club in the Champions League on Tuesday, 13 October 2026.
The match will be played at Rams Park in Istanbul, where the 27-year-old Nigeria forward will come up against a side he regards as one of the leading benchmarks in world football.
Osimhen praised Barcelona’s style of play, highlighting the technical quality and attacking approach associated with the team managed by Hansi Flick. His comments underline the respect he has for the Catalan club ahead of a demanding European fixture.
The Galatasaray striker also acknowledged the level required for his side to compete with Barcelona. Galatasaray will need to show intensity throughout the game and maintain concentration from start to finish if they are to have a chance of making the difference.
Former coach Gernot Rohr has also offered a strong assessment of Osimhen, saying: “Osimhen is unquestionably one of the best centre-forwards in the world.”
Barcelona links remain
Osimhen’s praise for Barcelona has renewed speculation about a possible move to the Spanish club. The Nigeria international has previously been identified among the attacking options considered by Deco as Barcelona look to strengthen their forward line.
However, his positive comments do not indicate that negotiations are currently taking place.
Osimhen is valued at 65 million euros and remains under contract with Galatasaray until 2029. His annual salary in Turkey is 18,750,000 euros, equivalent to 12,187,500,000 FCFA.
After the Champions League meeting with Barcelona, Galatasaray will soon return to domestic action. Their next fixture will be against Genclerbirligi SK in the eighth round of the Turkish league.
