Alphadjo Cisse: AC Milan’s Guinean-eligible teenager making a rapid rise

Alphadjo Cisse is emerging as one of AC Milan’s most promising young players after making an immediate impression at San Siro.

Born in Treviso, Italy, the 19-year-old attacking midfielder joined the Rossoneri from Hellas Verona in February 2026 in a deal worth 8 million euros. He was then sent on loan to US Catanzaro.

Cisse has already played for Italy Under-21s, but remains eligible to represent Guinea, the country of his origins. He has made five Serie A appearances for AC Milan this season and scored two goals.

The midfielder’s progress has also attracted the attention of Aly Badara Cisse, known affectionately as “Coach Rhima”. The coach recently guided the Syli national to qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Under-17 tournament in Morocco, ending an eight-year wait.

Speaking exclusively to Africafoot, Aly Badara Cisse described the young player’s profile as highly appealing. He believes Guinea needs footballers of Cisse’s quality if the country is to improve its standing at international level.

Cisse spent the winter on loan at US Catanzaro, where he played 22 Serie B matches and scored six goals. He returned to AC Milan in the summer and, despite his young age, quickly began to attract attention after joining the first-team set-up at San Siro.

The player will turn 20 on 22 October 2026. His two goals in his first five Serie A matches have already led some Italian supporters to call for his inclusion in the Italy senior squad.

Aly Badara Cisse hopes Guinea can move quickly to persuade the midfielder to choose the country of his heritage. The Guinean Football Federation, through team manager Kamil Zayatte, is expected to present Cisse with an ambitious project, as it intends to do with all Guinean dual nationals.

The aim is to convince those eligible players to contribute to the renewal of football in Guinea.

AC Milan are also due to face RB Salzburg in the second matchday of the Europa League. The listed odds are 3.80 for an RB Salzburg victory, 3.80 for a draw and 1.70 for an AC Milan win.
