Bruno Savio opens up on Al Ahly spell

Former Al Ahly forward Bruno Savio has reflected on his time with the Egyptian giants, describing his experience in the country as an enjoyable period while expressing gratitude to fans for the support they showed him during his stay.

The Brazilian, who spent a brief spell with the Cairo-based club, recalled several memorable moments from his time in Egypt, with his goal against arch-rivals Zamalek in the Egyptian Super Cup standing out as one of his most cherished memories.

Speaking on Al-Nahar channel, Savio revealed that he continues to follow Egyptian football and maintains strong connections with supporters and friends in the country.

“I follow Egyptian football very well, and I have many friends and followers, and I would like to thank the Egyptian fans for the support I received during my time in Egypt,” he said.

The former Al Ahly player also spoke warmly about his experience away from the pitch, explaining that he enjoyed his time in Egypt and took part in activities that made his stay memorable.

“I had a very enjoyable time in Egypt, and I participated in many activities that I enjoyed, and I will never forget that period,” he added.

Savio’s most memorable moment in an Al Ahly shirt came during the Egyptian Super Cup clash against Zamalek, when he found the net as the Red Devils secured a 2-0 victory over their fierce rivals.

The Brazilian said the goal remains firmly in his memory, describing it as one of the many special experiences he had during his time at the club.

“I remember very well the goal I scored against Zamalek, when we won the match 2-0 in the Super Cup, and I have many wonderful moments that I will never forget throughout my life,” he stated.

Despite his positive memories, Savio admitted that his time at Al Ahly could have been more fulfilling had he enjoyed greater playing opportunities.

The forward explained that he felt comfortable living in Egypt but found it challenging to adapt to limited involvement in matches. He acknowledged, however, that every player must respect the decisions and tactical approach of the head coach.

“Naturally, I felt at home in Egypt, but my participation in some matches was limited, and I was trying to adapt to the situation, even though the coach had a special strategy,” he said.

Savio added that he made efforts to adjust to his circumstances within the team, stressing that he respected the coach’s authority and remained committed to giving his best whenever called upon.

“I was trying to adapt, especially within the team’s dressing room, but everyone must respect the vision of the technical director. I also gave everything I had to Al-Ahly, and I wished to play in the team’s jersey for a longer period and participate in more matches,” he explained.

Although his spell with the Egyptian giants did not provide him with as much playing time as he had hoped for, Savio insists that his experience left him with lasting memories.

His appreciation for the Egyptian fans remains evident, with the Brazilian making it clear that the support he received during his time in Cairo continues to hold a special place in his heart.
