Emile Heskey urges Liverpool to consider move for Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo
Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has urged his former club to consider signing Ghana international Antoine Semenyo, describing the Manchester City forward as an explosive attacker who could make a significant impact at Anfield.
Heskey believes Liverpool could revive their interest in the 26-year-old if Manchester City are forced to sell players amid uncertainty surrounding the club’s financial charges.
Semenyo has established himself as one of the Premier League’s exciting attacking talents, using his pace, physical strength and direct style of play to trouble opposition defences.
The Ghanaian’s ability to create chances and score goals makes him an attractive option for Liverpool as they seek to strengthen their attacking options.
“Semenyo is a very explosive attacking player who’s got an eye for goal,” Heskey told TEAMtalk.
“He’s exactly what the top four teams want in a wide player – not only do you create, but you’re explosive enough to go and score some goals yourself.”
Liverpool were previously linked with a move for Semenyo before he joined Manchester City in January.
His versatility across the forward line, ability to beat defenders and willingness to drive into dangerous areas could offer Liverpool an additional attacking dimension.
However, any potential move would depend on Manchester City’s willingness to sell and Liverpool’s decision on whether to pursue their reported interest in the Ghanaian forward.
Semenyo is expected to feature when Manchester City host defending Champions League champions Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.
