Al Ahly coach Hussein Ammouta wants duo to stay

Al Ahly head coach Hussein Ammouta is reportedly keen to retain Mohamed Hany and Yasser Ibrahim until the end of the season, despite the club’s difficulties in reaching agreements with the pair over contract renewals.

As per reports, Ammouta wants to preserve the team’s stability during the second half of the campaign and is reluctant to lose two players who remain part of his technical plans during the upcoming January transfer window.

The club’s efforts to extend the defenders’ contracts have stalled over disagreements concerning financial terms and specific contractual clauses.

Al Ahly reportedly offered both players annual salaries of approximately US$500,000, alongside bonuses worth around US$200,000 each. However, the proposals have failed to produce a breakthrough in negotiations.

Hany’s disagreement with the club centres on a clause linked to his playing-time percentage, while Ibrahim is reportedly demanding a signing bonus of approximately US$200,000 to commit his future to the Egyptian giants.

With negotiations yet to yield an agreement, Al Ahly’s management is considering whether to cash in on the two defenders in January rather than risk losing them on free transfers when their contracts expire in the summer.

Ibrahim has reportedly attracted interest from a Libyan club prepared to offer around US$3 million for a two-season deal, while Hany has been linked with a possible move to Turkish side Trabzonspor.

The situation presents Al Ahly with a difficult decision as the club weighs Ammouta’s desire to retain his key players against the financial implications of allowing their contracts to run down.

Should the renewal talks remain unresolved, the January transfer window could become a decisive period for the futures of both defenders.
