Aliou Dieng’s agent rules out January exit from Valencia

Aliou Dieng is not expected to leave Valencia during the January transfer window, despite reports in the Spanish media questioning his future at the club, according to his agent Khaled Maghraby.

Speaking to Africafoot, Maghraby said no decision had been taken over a possible departure and insisted that a January separation was not currently being considered.

The clarification comes after Spanish newspaper AS reported that Valencia’s hierarchy wanted to part company with the Mali international, claiming his performances had not met the club’s expectations. However, Dieng’s representatives say there has been no concrete move towards an exit.

The midfielder’s reduced involvement has prompted speculation about his position in the squad. After joining Valencia from Al Ahly at the beginning of the season on a free transfer, Dieng featured in the club’s first five La Liga matches. He has since remained an unused substitute in the last two league games.

Al Ahly aware of potential return

Africafoot also contacted a member of Al Ahly’s management to establish whether the Egyptian club had been informed of a possible return for Dieng.

The official said the reports had reached the club and that Dieng had been asked about the possibility of returning to Cairo. According to the same source, the midfielder said no Valencia official had approached him about leaving the Spanish side.

Dieng is also understood to have indicated that, if he were to depart Valencia, his preference would be to return to Al Ahly, where he played before moving to Spain. That position underlines his attachment to the Egyptian club but does not amount to confirmation that negotiations over a transfer are under way.

Dieng joined Al Ahly after establishing himself as a defensive midfielder. During several seasons in Egypt, he became known for his physical strength, ball-winning ability and contribution to the team’s balance. His time at the club also included national and continental title successes.

For now, the comments from his agent and the information provided by Al Ahly’s management do not point to an imminent transfer. Dieng’s prospects are likely to become clearer over the coming weeks, particularly as his playing time at Valencia develops before the winter window opens.

Valencia’s next fixture is their eighth match of the Spanish league season against Racing Santander.
