Burkina Faso has taken control of the Tour du Faso after a comeback in the 6th stage. Saïdou Bamogo, the Burkinabè rider, claimed victory in a hard-fought sprint between Ouagadougou and Koudougou, covering the 99.300 km distance in 2h20mn15sec with an average speed of 42.491 km/h. This win disrupted the recent momentum of the Algerian riders, who had secured victories in the previous two stages.

Bamogo’s outstanding sprint performance positioned him ahead of Clovis Téguia Gwewa from Cameroon and Kab Hicham from Algeria. The Burkinabè rider’s achievement allowed Abdoul Aziz Nikiéma to maintain his yellow jersey in the overall standings, although he conceded the green jersey to his compatriot Mahamadi Balima, who performed well and accumulated 90 points.

In the general individual classification, Nikiéma retains the lead with a slim 8-second gap over Issiaka Cissé from Ivory Coast, followed closely by the German rider Hober Benjamin at 17 seconds. Rasmané Ouédraogo, the yellow jersey holder from the last edition, incurred a 2-minute 15-second delay after receiving a sanction during a previous stage.

Arouna Ilboudo from Burkina Faso secured the intermediate sprints jersey and the combativeness award. The Stallions lead the general team classification with a total time of 51 hours and 35 minutes, followed by the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and the regional team of the Center in Burkina Faso.

The 7th stage of the Tour, spanning 132 km, is scheduled to take place on Thursday between Pa and Bobo-Dioulasso.
