Karim Adeyemi pushes for Barcelona start against Getafe
Karim Adeyemi is emerging as a strong candidate to start for Barcelona against Getafe on Saturday as Hansi Flick considers rotating his squad following the international break.
According to Diario Sport, the German forward’s limited involvement during international duty has left him relatively fresh ahead of Barcelona’s return to La Liga. Adeyemi featured in two Nations League matches and is now hoping to secure a place in the starting lineup.
Several of his attacking teammates face a different situation after representing their countries. Lamine Yamal and Anthony Gordon have been involved with Spain and England respectively, leaving Flick to assess their fitness before deciding on his selection.
Raphinha’s absence could further strengthen Adeyemi’s chances. The Brazilian has been struggling with muscular discomfort after withdrawing from Brazil’s squad and has continued working separately from the rest of the team. Barcelona coach Flick has since confirmed that Raphinha will miss the Getafe fixture.
Adeyemi has made an encouraging start to the 2026/27 campaign, registering three goals and three assists across all competitions. His pace, direct running and ability to create opportunities have made him a valuable option in Barcelona’s attack.
With a demanding run of fixtures approaching, Flick could use the Getafe encounter to manage workloads while maintaining the team’s attacking threat. Adeyemi now has an opportunity to turn his recent form into a starting place.
