Cape Town City and South Africa Under-20 defender Cayden Fortune has signed for Roc Nation Sports International (RNSI), with the agency describing the 19-year-old as one of the country’s emerging talents.
Fortune developed through Cape Town City’s youth system before featuring for the club’s reserve side in the DStv Diski Challenge two seasons ago. He made his senior debut last season and quickly established himself as a key figure in the defence.
His performances earned him a nomination for the Motsepe Foundation Championship Young Player of the Season award.
Fortune was also an important member of the South Africa Under-20 national team, Amajita, which successfully defended its regional title at the 2026 COSAFA U20 Men’s Youth Championship in Mozambique.
That victory secured Amajita’s qualification for the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.
RNSI said Fortune’s arrival added to an expanding group of young South African players represented by the agency, including Neo Bohloko, Emile Witbooi and Siya Mabena.
In a statement confirming the signing, Roc Nation Sports International said: “Roc Nation Sports International (RNSI) is proud to announce the signing of 19-year-old South African footballer Cayden Fortune, further strengthening the agency’s commitment to nurturing top-tier talent.”
The agency said Fortune had shown “exceptional technical ability, tactical maturity, and composure under pressure”, while noting that he became a regular starter for Cape Town City FC in the NFD last season at the age of 18.
RNSI Director of African Football Recruitment Grant Veitch welcomed Fortune to what he called the “Roc fam”.
“Cayden is an extraordinary talent whose work ethic and achievements on the pitch speak for themselves,” Veitch said.
“His performances with Amajita demonstrated the high ceiling he possesses, and we are thrilled to provide 360-degree services as he navigates the next steps of his professional journey.”
The agency said Fortune’s signing reflected its continued expansion in South Africa and across the continent, as it seeks to support emerging players and elevate African football globally.
Fortune said joining RNSI was significant for both himself and his family.
“Signing with Roc Nation Sports International is a special moment for me and my family,” he said.
“Joining a roster with so many incredible young players inspires me to keep pushing myself. With their guidance, I am confident I can reach my full potential both on and off the field.”
