Amin Chiakha returns to Rosenborg after Algeria international duty
Algeria striker Amin Chiakha says he is eager to return to action for Rosenborg after making three appearances for his country during the latest international break.
The 19-year-old featured in Algeria’s victories against Zambia and Niger, as well as their draw against Burundi, and made his first start for the national team during the period.
Speaking to Rosenborg after returning to Trondheim, Chiakha described the experience as a positive one but admitted he was looking forward to playing for his club again.
“It was very positive. I played a lot and I honored my first start with the national team. It was nice to be there, but now I’m looking forward to playing here again.”
Chiakha returned to Norway after a demanding period with Algeria, while some of his Rosenborg team-mates had enjoyed time away from football.
The striker acknowledged that a break would have been welcome but stressed how much he valued the opportunity to represent his country.
“I probably could have used a week off, but that’s how it is when you play for the national team. I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity with the national team, but I’m also extremely eager to play here again. After three weeks away, it’s a real joy to be back.”
Chiakha remains patient for first Algeria goal
Despite making three appearances during the international break, Chiakha is still waiting to score his first goal for Algeria.
The forward had hoped to open his international account, but he remains patient as the team works to establish itself following the departure of several experienced players.
Chiakha believes Algeria need time to build their understanding and find the right balance as a younger group develops.
“We are a very young team. Many of our key players have retired from international football, so we need to find our rhythm, our chemistry, and establish our structure.”
His comments reflect the challenges facing the national side as it adjusts to changes within the squad, while the striker continues to gain experience at international level.
Rosenborg striker leads Norwegian scoring charts
Chiakha has enjoyed a productive campaign in Norway, scoring 13 goals in the Eliteserien and placing himself at the top of the league’s goalscoring standings.
His scoring record has been a major positive for the young forward, although he is determined not to become distracted by his current position.
Rather than focus on leading the charts now, Chiakha wants to maintain his form and finish the campaign strongly.
“I prefer to be top of the league at the end. I’m staying calm, and if I finish as top scorer at that point, I’ll be very happy.”
The striker will now turn his attention back to club football with Rosenborg, hoping to carry his confidence from the international break into the remainder of the Norwegian season.
With 13 league goals already to his name, Chiakha has an opportunity to strengthen his position in the scoring race while continuing his development with both club and country.
