Daniel Teklehaimanot, the Eritrean cyclist, secured victory at the African Cycling Championships for the third consecutive year in the individual time trial. The 23-year-old emerged as the champion on the 31.8 km circuit in Ouagadougou, completing the race in 39 minutes, 11 seconds, and 52 hundredths.
Teklehaimanot faced competition from thirty other participants, with Ethiopian Tsgabu Grmay finishing in second place and South African Jay Thomson securing the third spot. The event also included the Espoirs (under 23) category, where Tsgabu Grmay claimed the top position, followed by Algerian Adil Barbari in second and Eritrean Natnael Teweldemedhin Berhane in third.
Teklehaimanot, who had previously contributed to Eritrea’s victory in the team time trial alongside Natnael Berhane, Freqalsi Abrha, and Jani Tewelde Weldegabir, concluded the competition on a high note with his individual triumph.
