Karim Konate: five possible next steps for the RB Salzburg striker

Karim Konate is attracting interest from several European clubs, with Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Nottingham Forest and Sunderland all among the possible destinations for the 22-year-old.

The Ivory Coast striker remains under contract with RB Salzburg until June 2028 and is valued at €12m by Transfermarkt. With his profile drawing increasing attention, a number of options are emerging for the next stage of his career.

Borussia Dortmund a prestigious possibility

Borussia Dortmund is monitoring Konate’s development and is understood to have already made enquiries through the player’s representatives.

The Bundesliga club is impressed by the forward’s attacking qualities. A move to Dortmund would give Konate the chance to continue his development in a league known for providing young players with significant exposure.

RB Leipzig offers a familiar route

RB Leipzig is another realistic option. The German club regularly recruits players who have performed well within the Red Bull network and is familiar with the potential of footballers who have developed or established themselves at RB Salzburg.

A transfer to Leipzig would allow Konate to follow a route already taken by several talents who moved from the Austrian club to its German counterpart.

Nottingham Forest targeting attacking reinforcements

The Premier League is also a possible next destination for Konate. Nottingham Forest have reportedly placed the Ivorian on their list of attacking targets as they look to strengthen that area of the squad.

The English club could have the financial resources required to persuade RB Salzburg to enter negotiations over a transfer.

Sunderland represent a less expected option

Sunderland are also following Konate’s situation closely. Their sporting project could give the striker an important role in the attacking department.

A move to England would expose him to a different footballing environment while allowing him to continue his development with the aim of establishing himself at the highest level over the long term.

Staying in Austria remains possible

Konate could ultimately opt for stability and remain with RB Salzburg. His contract runs until June 2028, leaving him with further time to progress in Austria.

RB Salzburg may prefer to retain the forward and benefit from his performances in European competitions before deciding whether to sell. With his current value estimated at €12m by Transfermarkt, the club could wait in the hope that his market value increases further.

Dortmund will soon play their fifth match of the German league season against Werder Bremen. According to 1xbet, Dortmund are priced at 1.32 to win, a draw is offered at 5.30, while Werder Bremen are priced at 6.60.
