TS Galaxy train former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Thulani Zandamela

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Thulani Zandamela is training with TS Galaxy as he looks to secure his next move after leaving Marumo Gallants.

The 24-year-old came to prominence during the Varsity Football Tournament with the University of Johannesburg, where he established himself as one of South African football’s standout young players.

His performances earned him a move to Mamelodi Sundowns. Zandamela featured prominently for the club’s DStv Diski Challenge side and also trained with the senior team in 2022.

He subsequently joined AmaTuks on loan, spending two consecutive seasons there in search of regular first-team football. After leaving the club, he signed for Marumo Gallants at the start of the campaign.

However, Zandamela is understood to have parted company with Gallants before the most recent transfer window closed. He has since been training with TS Galaxy, known as the Rockets.

Galaxy already have young attacking midfield options in Siphamandla Ngwenya and Siphesihle Tati. Tshepo Kakora and Mpho Mvelase have also been used in the position, but Zandamela could provide another option for the squad.

The club are also in the process of appointing a new head coach. Admir Adzem is waiting for his work permit before formally taking over from Bernard Parker.

Parker, a Bafana Bafana legend, is expected to remain at TS Galaxy as an assistant while continuing his coaching education. He remains highly regarded by the club’s chairman, Tim Sukazi.
