Noni Madueke’s Arsenal future under scrutiny as Atletico and Juventus monitor winger

Noni Madueke’s limited involvement at Arsenal has alerted Atletico de Madrid and Juventus, with both clubs understood to be tracking the England international’s situation.

The 24-year-old joined Arsenal with high expectations, but his role has diminished significantly under manager Mikel Arteta. Just one year after leaving Chelsea, Madueke is already facing an important decision over the next stage of his career.

He has made only five appearances for Arsenal since the start of the season, across all competitions, and has played 176 minutes in total. His only goal came in the Carabao Cup.

That lack of involvement represents a difficult start for a player Arsenal recruited because of his attacking qualities. Madueke’s pace, ability to beat defenders and direct style of play had made him an attractive addition to Arteta’s squad.

Interest from Atletico and Juventus

The Telegraph reports that Atletico de Madrid and Juventus are following Madueke closely. Both clubs have appreciated his profile for several years and could look to take advantage of his uncertain position at Arsenal.

The January transfer window could therefore become an important point in the winger’s season. If his opportunities do not increase over the coming weeks, Madueke may consider leaving in search of regular football and an opportunity to revive a career that appeared to be taking a new direction when he arrived at Arsenal.

His immediate future will depend partly on whether Arteta changes his preference in the weeks ahead. The Arsenal manager may still view Madueke as an option for the remainder of the campaign, but competition for places and the player’s limited minutes have raised questions about his prospects.

Madueke is now approaching a crossroads. He could remain at Arsenal and attempt to force his way back into the manager’s plans, or pursue a move that would give him a greater chance of establishing himself as a regular starter elsewhere.

Should he leave, Atletico de Madrid and Juventus could be among the first clubs to make their interest more concrete.

Arsenal will soon play their sixth match of the English league season against Leeds United.
