Dani Olmo wants to stay at Barcelona despite Bayern Munich interest

Dani Olmo has no intention of leaving Barcelona, despite renewed interest from Bayern Munich, and remains focused on continuing his career with the Catalan club.

Bayern have admired the Spain international for some time and previously considered signing him while he was at RB Leipzig. However, the Bundesliga champions have not made an offer for the midfielder, while neither Olmo nor Barcelona are seeking a transfer.

The 28-year-old joined Barcelona from Leipzig in 2024 and is under contract until June 2030. He is said to be satisfied with his position at the club, where he has become an important member of both Hansi Flick’s side and the Spain squad.

Olmo has made 96 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 20 goals and supplying 20 assists. His ability to operate in several positions has increased his value to the team, with the midfielder capable of playing centrally, as an attacking midfielder or on the left.

That flexibility gives Flick a number of options when deciding his starting line-up.

Olmo recently described how his responsibilities differ between Barcelona and Spain. He said Flick encourages him to play more directly for his club side.

“Hansi Flick asks me to be more vertical and attack more spaces.”

He believes he is given greater freedom when playing between the lines for Spain.

“Zinedine Zidane gives me more freedom between the lines.”

Despite facing competition for places at Barcelona, Olmo says he is comfortable with his role and remains determined to develop further.

“I feel good both ways and I want to continue demonstrating that. I can still give much more at Barca.”

That stance leaves little room for uncertainty over his immediate plans. Olmo wants to stay at Barcelona and continue challenging for trophies under Flick, rather than pursue a move to Bayern or another interested club.

Barcelona are approaching an important period of the season, with significant La Liga and Champions League matches ahead.

Their next fixture is Saturday’s La Liga meeting with Getafe at Camp Nou.
