Malik Pimpong ruled out of RB Leipzig clash

Eintracht Frankfurt will be without Malik Pimpong for Saturday’s Bundesliga trip to RB Leipzig after the young forward returned from international duty with a minor injury.

Frankfurt coach Adi Hutter confirmed the setback ahead of the match, although he did not disclose the exact nature of Pimpong’s complaints or provide a timeframe for his return.

“Malik Pimpong has returned from national team duty carrying a minor knock and will not be available to us either,” Hutter said.

Pimpong joined Frankfurt from FC Midtjylland during the summer and has made two Bundesliga appearances this season, both as a substitute. He has played 29 minutes in the competition without scoring or providing an assist. He also featured for 22 minutes in Frankfurt’s DFB-Pokal victory over DJK Teutonia St. Tönis.

The 18-year-old has been regarded as one of Denmark’s promising young forwards after scoring 24 goals in 30 matches across all competitions for Midtjylland’s U19 side last season.

Pimpong’s absence leaves Hütter with one fewer attacking option as Frankfurt prepare for a difficult visit to Leipzig. The youngster’s return will depend on how quickly he recovers from the unspecified issue.
