Motsepe confirms Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will host 2027 Africa Cup of Nations

Patrice Motsepe has reaffirmed that Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda remain the hosts of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, saying the tournament will go ahead under the PAMOJA banner.

The Confederation of African Football president made the statement on Thursday during CAF’s Strategic Conference in Sal, Cape Verde, where leaders of the organisation’s 54 member associations are taking part.

The future of the 2027 tournament has been among the issues discussed at the meeting after recent reports raised questions over whether it would remain in East Africa.

“We are going to the PAMOJA AFCON in 2027,” Motsepe said.

His comments reinforce CAF’s position that the competition will be staged jointly by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. He also rejected reports circulated in Europe suggesting that the host countries could be changed.

The tournament is based on the PAMOJA concept, which represents unity between the three East African nations. CAF’s focus is now on continuing preparations and ensuring the required infrastructure and other organisational arrangements are in place for 2027.

Despite the challenges still facing the three countries in preparing for the event, Motsepe’s message was clear: the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations remains scheduled for Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
