Ilan Kebbal shortlisted for Ligue 1 goal of the August-September period
Ilan Kebbal has been nominated for the Ligue 1 goal of the August-September period after his impressive start to the season with Paris FC.
The Algeria international is one of five players shortlisted for the award after his goal against Strasbourg on matchday five was selected among the candidates.
Kebbal’s goal came from near the edge of the penalty area after he noticed the Strasbourg goalkeeper was out of position.
The Paris FC midfielder produced a carefully weighted lob that sailed over the goalkeeper and into the net.
He is competing for the award against Hakon Haraldsson, Paris Brunner, Branco Van den Boomen and Pathé Mboup.
The nomination adds to a positive period for Kebbal, who has established himself as an important player for Paris FC since the beginning of the season.
The 2026 World Cup squad omission initially represented a setback for the Algeria international, but he has responded by becoming a regular for his club.
His performances have also strengthened his position within the Algeria set-up, with Kebbal returning to the national team for the latest training camp under Brahim Hemdani.
Kebbal has featured in five Ligue 1 matches this season, scoring once and providing one assist. He has played more than 400 minutes for Paris FC during the campaign.
His consistency at club level has helped him return to the plans of the Algeria national team after being left out of the World Cup squad selected by Vladimir Petkovic.
Kebbal was an unused substitute when Algeria faced Zambia during the latest international break. He then came off the bench against Burundi before being handed his first start against Niger.
He played in two matches during the international break, recording around 79 minutes in total. That included 61 minutes in the match against Niger.
His return to the starting line-up against Niger underlined his growing importance to the national team.
Kebbal’s nomination for the Ligue 1 goal award now gives him another opportunity to be recognised for his performances this season.
The Paris FC player will be hoping his spectacular effort against Strasbourg wins the vote as he continues to establish himself as an important figure for both club and country.
