Manchester United are leading the interest in Como winger Assane Diao, with the English club considering a move for the Senegal international despite already having Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in their attacking options.
United scouts watched the 21-year-old during Como’s matches against Genoa, Parma and Frosinone. According to 4-4-2, the club’s representatives were impressed by Diao’s potential and have identified him as a serious target to strengthen their forward line.
Diao joined Como in January 2025 and has made a strong impact in Italy. He has scored 13 goals and provided three assists in 41 appearances in all competitions since moving to the club.
His form has also attracted interest from several other Premier League sides. Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Liverpool, Everton and Brentford are all understood to be monitoring the winger, increasing the competition for his signature.
Como set asking price
Como are not prepared to let Diao leave without a significant offer. The Italian club have set an asking price of between 50m and 55m euros for the player, who is also known as a Lion of Teranga.
Manchester United must now decide whether to meet Como’s valuation in order to move ahead of their domestic rivals. Diao is currently valued at 30m euros and earns 930,000 euros (£604,500,000 FCFA) per year in Italy.
The player’s contract with Como runs until 2029, giving the club a strong negotiating position as interest in him grows.
Como’s next fixture will be against AS Roma in the sixth round of the Italian championship.
