Donnarumma agent says Manchester City players reassured after financial charges verdict
Manchester City have told Gianluigi Donnarumma and their other players that “sporting justice” will ultimately support the club, according to the goalkeeper’s agent Enzo Raiola.
The club remains optimistic despite being formally found guilty by the Premier League of 114 of the 115 charges brought against it over alleged financial-rule breaches.
Premier League clubs are seeking an unprecedented punishment after Manchester City was found to have committed more than 100 alleged financial offences. The club has vowed to challenge the ruling to the end and has accused the commission of accepting “conspiracy theories in the Premier League”.
Manchester City has formally appealed against the decision, seeking to overturn the findings.
Raiola said the verdict would not affect Donnarumma or the club’s plans. Speaking in comments reported by The Sun, he said: “Will the chaos at Manchester City change anything? No, nothing will change for us or for Donnarumma.”
“News appears periodically. The club has spoken to Gigio and everyone is calm. There are important matches now against Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, and after that sporting justice will take its course,” he added.
Raiola also said: “Donnarumma has received reassurances from Manchester City.”
Donnarumma and the rest of Manchester City’s players who have been away on international duty are due to return to training on Thursday. They are preparing for Sunday’s Premier League match against Liverpool.
