Juventus step up pursuit of Darryl Bakola as Serie A giants plot January move
Juventus have stepped up their pursuit of Darryl Bakola, with the Serie A giants already making contact with Sassuolo as they look to secure a deal for the highly regarded midfielder.
The Bianconeri have reportedly been monitoring Bakola in recent weeks and are now exploring ways to move ahead in the race for his signature, with growing Premier League interest threatening to complicate their plans.
Juventus make Bakola move
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, new Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali has already held talks with Sassuolo sporting director Francesco Palmieri over Bakola.
Further discussions are expected in the coming weeks as Juventus assess the possibility of making an approach for the midfielder, potentially as early as the January transfer window.
Carnevali’s existing relationship with Sassuolo could prove valuable in negotiations, with Juventus hoping those connections will help them gain an advantage in what could become a competitive transfer battle.
The Italian club are particularly keen to avoid allowing Premier League sides to establish themselves as frontrunners.
Bakola catching the eye
Born in France, Bakola also has Republic of the Congo origins, adding an international dimension to the young midfielder’s background.
The midfielder had limited opportunities last season and was unable to make a significant impact. His situation has changed during the current campaign, however, with his performances attracting considerably more attention.
His display against Juventus themselves appears to have accelerated interest from the Turin club, who have now begun exploring a possible transfer.
Juventus are understood to be impressed by Bakola’s physical qualities and engine, with Carnevali reportedly convinced that the midfielder possesses attributes that could eventually allow him to thrive in the Premier League.
That belief has added urgency to Juventus’ pursuit, as they look to act before English clubs make a decisive move.
Adzic could help Juventus
Another factor influencing Juventus’ interest is Vasilije Adzic, who is currently on loan at Sassuolo from the Turin club.
The Montenegro international has been enjoying an impressive spell in the Italian top flight, giving Juventus an additional connection with Sassuolo as they consider Bakola’s situation.
Adzic’s development could therefore indirectly assist negotiations, while his successful loan spell has given Juventus a closer view of Sassuolo’s squad and their players.
With Bakola’s stock rising and Premier League interest beginning to emerge, Juventus are considering whether to accelerate their plans rather than wait until the end of the season.
A move in January cannot be ruled out as the Bianconeri attempt to secure the midfielder before the competition for his signature intensifies.
