Ramadan Sobhi says he has yet to decide what comes next after four-year ban

Ramadan Sobhi says he has not yet decided what he will do next after receiving a four-year suspension from the International Anti-Doping Organisation.

The former Pyramids player was banned after an irregularity was found in the sample he provided during a doping test. The suspension prevents him from training, using sports facilities or playing for any professional team until it expires.

“I have not thought about what I will do in the future yet,” Sobhi told MBC Masr. “I do not know what I will do. When there is something to announce, I will tell everyone.”

Sobhi, who is 29, also discussed the forthcoming match between Al Ahly and Zamalek, saying the fixture would be difficult to predict because of its particular significance.

“Al Ahly and Zamalek matches have their own calculations, and their outcomes are difficult to predict,” he said.

He added that both sides had reached the required level of preparation before the game.

“All the teams have reached the required form, and there was a good period to work and prepare for the match,” said Sobhi.

The ban means Sobhi will remain unable to take part in professional football for the coming years, with his restrictions continuing until the end of the suspension period. He has not announced any plans for his future while the ban remains in place.

Sobhi made 159 appearances for Pyramids, scoring 37 goals and providing 31 assists. His most recent appearance came against Auckland City of New Zealand in the 2025 Intercontinental Cup, when he played for 13 minutes.
