Algeria to host Togo in Tizi-Ouzou as November AFCON qualifiers confirmed

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has confirmed that Algeria will play their next home match against Togo at the Hocine Ait Ahmed Stadium in Tizi-Ouzou on 14 November.

The announcement came a day after the Fennecs completed their first international break of the 2026-2027 season with a 2-1 friendly victory over Niger in Tizi-Ouzou.

Brahim Hemdani’s side will face Togo twice in November as part of the third and fourth rounds of qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. After hosting the Togolese team on 14 November, Algeria will travel to Lome three days later for the return fixture at the Kegue Stadium.

The Hocine Ait Ahmed Stadium has become a stronghold for Algeria in recent matches, and the FAF has again selected the Tizi-Ouzou venue for a crucial home qualifier.

The two teams also met in the qualifying campaign for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Under Vladimir Petkovic, Algeria recorded two victories, winning 5-1 in Annaba before claiming a 1-0 success in Lome. Those matches were played on 10 and 14 October 2024.

Algeria began their qualifying campaign for the 2027 tournament during the latest international window, the first of the Brahim Hemdani era, with mixed results.

They opened with a 3-1 win against Zambia in Tizi-Ouzou on 25 September. However, they were held to a 2-2 draw by Burundi in Bujumbura on 29 September, having needed a late equaliser to secure a point.

The results leave Algeria top of Group I, one point clear of Zambia, their nearest challengers. Two victories against Togo would put the Fennecs in a strong position to qualify for the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from 19 June to 18 July next year.

The November fixtures will therefore represent an important test for Hemdani’s team as they look to strengthen their position at the top of the group. The first meeting will be played in Tizi-Ouzou before the sides meet again at the Kegue Stadium in Lome.
