Raphael Onyedika returns early to Eintracht Frankfurt

Raphael Onyedika will return to Eintracht Frankfurt earlier than initially planned after being released from Nigeria duty ahead of the final international fixture.

Frankfurt confirmed on Tuesday that the 25-year-old midfielder will not feature in Nigeria’s last match of the international break.

The decision was reached through an agreement between Eintracht and the Nigerian Football Federation, allowing Onyedika to travel back to Germany and resume training with his club.

Onyedika recently returned to action for Nigeria after recovering from shoulder problems, featuring against Guinea-Bissau and getting his first minutes since the injury.

The midfielder has made a strong start to life at Frankfurt since joining from Club Brugge. He has started all four of the club’s Bundesliga matches this season, playing 360 minutes without scoring or registering an assist. He has also picked up three yellow cards.

His early return will be welcomed by Frankfurt, who are preparing for Saturday’s Bundesliga trip to RB Leipzig, with kick-off scheduled for 18:30 local time.

Onyedika’s availability gives Frankfurt an important midfield option as they prepare for another demanding league fixture.
