Former Raja Casablanca coach Nasreddine El Nabi has rejected the club’s proposed settlement over his departure and is demanding 400 million centimes in compensation.

The Tunisian coach was dismissed before the start of the current season and replaced by Spaniard Paco Jemez. According to Moroccan newspaper Al-Akhbar, El Nabi has turned down Raja’s offer of two months’ salary to close the dispute.

Instead, he is seeking the full amount of 400 million centimes, arguing that his dismissal was arbitrary.

El Nabi rejects settlement proposal

An informed source told Al-Akhbar that El Nabi has refused to correspond with Raja’s sports company over a settlement unless his demand for the full compensation is met.

The former coach reportedly believes he should not have been removed before being given the opportunity to establish his record in the national professional league.

Raja officials, however, are said to have rejected the amount requested by El Nabi and have so far refused to reopen negotiations over the case.

The dispute adds another financial file to the club’s workload after Raja’s sports company had already been dealing with several outstanding cases since its establishment.

Raja fans await decision over Moghreb Fes match

Away from the dispute with El Nabi, attention at Raja has also turned to Thursday’s league fixture against Moghreb Fes.

The match venue has been changed from the Grand Stadium of Fez to the Honorary Stadium in Meknes, leaving Raja supporters waiting for a decision from the National Professional Football League on whether they will be permitted to travel and attend the match.

The league was expected to announce its decision on Wednesday, with supporters’ groups particularly concerned about the short notice and the travel arrangements required following the late change of venue.

Raja face injury concern

Raja will also be without Shams El-Din Qandil, who is recovering from an injury sustained against Nahdet Zemamra.

There is, however, expected to be a boost with the possible return of Jordan international Mohammed Abu Zureiq, better known as “Sharara”, following the conclusion of the international break with his national team.

With the financial dispute involving El Nabi continuing alongside preparations for the Moghreb Fes fixture, Raja face a busy period both on and off the pitch.
