ENGLAND: NIGERIAN OLOFINJANA SIGNS WITH SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

Nigerian midfielder Seyi Olofinjana is set to make a comeback to competitive football by joining Sheffield Wednesday in the English Championship (Second Division). The 33-year-old, who was without a contract since leaving Hull City, has signed with Sheffield Wednesday until June 2014, rejoining a club where he had previously played.

Olofinjana is optimistic about the team’s prospects and believes that Sheffield Wednesday will soon secure their first win of the season. After making his debut in a 1-1 draw against Barnsley, he expressed his confidence in the squad, stating, “We have a good group of players here, and it’s frustrating that we didn’t get this win. Under normal circumstances, a point from a derby match is a good point, but we are disappointed. Now we think we are a difficult team to beat, but we have to turn these draws into victories. We have the players here who can do that, and I’m confident it will be done.”

Having patiently waited for an opportunity, Olofinjana is eager to contribute to the team’s success. He mentioned, “I waited patiently. I trained hard and bided my time. I was offered a contract here and couldn’t wait to sign it. There were other options available to me, but I wanted this to be my club. I enjoyed my time here last season, the manager told me to keep working hard and my chance might come. He did it, and I’m happy to be back.”
