Arsenal could be without Ezri Konsa for Saturday’s Premier League match at Leeds United, with the defender one of several players facing late fitness checks.
Konsa, who joined Arsenal during the summer for £55m, returned early from England duty after aggravating an injury problem. The defender has reportedly been managing a dead leg in recent weeks and took another knock during England’s 7-0 win over Croatia last weekend.
England manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed on Monday that Konsa had been affected by the issue during the international break. Konsa subsequently withdrew from the squad and did not play in Tuesday’s match against Czechia.
The injury is not regarded as serious, but it is not yet known whether Konsa will recover in time to face Leeds.
Arsenal will definitely be without Christos Tzolis, who suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Greece. The summer signing is expected to be sidelined for about three weeks.
Kai Havertz is also doubtful after sustaining a hamstring problem in Germany’s opening fixture of the international window. He was released from the Germany squad early as a result.
Declan Rice withdrew from England duty, although he is not believed to have suffered an injury. Martin Odegaard picked up an ankle knock while with Norway but started their final match on Sunday before being given a period of rest.
Arsenal do have some encouraging news ahead of their trip to Leeds. Ben White, Piero Hincapie and Yerson Mosquera have all recently returned to training.
The extent of Arsenal’s injury concerns will be assessed before they take on Leeds on Saturday.
