Ibrahima Konaté return to full training ahead of Real Madrid’s clash with Villarreal
Real Madrid have received a boost ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Villarreal, with Ibrahima Konaté and Éder Militão returning to full team training on Tuesday.
The two defenders completed the session alongside their teammates and could now be included in the squad for the weekend fixture.
However, the pair are at different stages of their recoveries, with Konaté closer to a return to competitive action than Militão.
Konaté could start against Villarreal
Konaté’s recovery is progressing well and the France international could be in contention to start against Villarreal.
If he continues to train with the rest of the squad throughout the week without any setbacks, the defender could be considered ready to return to the starting line-up on Saturday.
His return would provide a significant boost to Real Madrid’s defensive options.
Militão return likely to be gradual
Militão is expected to require more time before being considered for a starting role.
The Brazilian missed the entire pre-season because of injury and still needs to build up his fitness before returning to competitive football.
Real Madrid are therefore expected to manage his comeback carefully rather than rushing him back into action.
The club will continue to assess his condition during training before deciding when he is ready to feature.
Real Madrid face Villarreal on Saturday as they look to strengthen their defensive options with both Konaté and Militão back in training.
