Kylian Mbappe mocks report claiming he was angry with Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe has responded sarcastically to claims that he was unhappy with Real Madrid after the Spanish club allegedly refused to campaign for his Ballon d’Or bid.

The France captain became the focus of renewed attention during the international break after a series of events prompted questions from Real Madrid supporters about his recent conduct.

Mbappe suffered an injury while playing for France against Turkey in the UEFA Nations League and returned to Madrid. He subsequently left the Spanish capital again to take several days of rest, a decision which drew criticism from sections of the club’s fanbase.

The forward had not responded publicly to those complaints. However, he addressed a report broadcast by Radio Marca after journalist Javier Tinto said Mbappe had been angry with Real Madrid.

“During derby week, Mbappe asked the club to make an effort and run a campaign supporting his Ballon d’Or win, because that is what matters to him,” Tinto said.

“The club did not respond. I now understand Mbappe’s attitude on the pitch during that derby. He was angry.”

Tinto then claimed Mbappe had apparently made a similar request to Zinedine Zidane.

“He then, apparently, asked Zidane for the same thing,” Tinto added. “Of course, Zidane cannot do that, because Dembele is also involved in this matter, so everything that happened was unfortunate.”

Mbappe did not ignore the comments. He replied directly on Instagram to a post reproducing Radio Marca’s report of Tinto’s remarks.

According to Monday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo, Mbappe wrote: “Yes, alright, yes, and I was angry with my grandmother’s sister too.”

He accompanied the comment with laughing-face emojis, making clear the mocking tone of his response.

The exchange comes after a difficult period of scrutiny around Mbappe, who has faced questions over both his availability for France and his actions after returning to Real Madrid.

His injury against Turkey led to his return to Madrid, but his subsequent departure for additional rest created further frustration among some supporters. Mbappe had previously offered no public explanation or response to the criticism.

The latest controversy centres on the Ballon d’Or claims made by Tinto, rather than on any confirmed statement from Real Madrid or Mbappe about the club’s position. Mbappe’s Instagram comment represents his only recorded response to the report, and he rejected its tone through sarcasm rather than issuing a detailed explanation.
