Jordan Pickford admits careless driving charge after police pursuit

Jordan Pickford has admitted a charge of driving without due care and attention after police said his Lamborghini Urus came close to causing a collision in Knutsford.

The Everton and England goalkeeper was seen by an officer from Cheshire Police on 14 April after allegedly failing to obey stop signs at a junction. According to court documents, two vehicles were forced to brake sharply to avoid crashing into the Lamborghini, which is valued at about £200,000.

Officer Cecil Ricardo said Pickford continued driving at speed after the incident. The officer then followed the vehicle with his emergency lights and siren activated.

Court documents state that Pickford was recorded travelling at 50mph in an area where the speed limit was 30mph.

The 32-year-old eventually pulled over at the side of the road after appearing to notice the police car behind him.

Pickford submitted a written guilty plea under a special court procedure. However, he has requested a hearing so that mitigating circumstances can be presented before the sentence is decided.

He is due to appear at Chester Magistrates’ Court on 7 December, when the case will be heard and the penalty determined.

Pickford has established himself as one of the leading goalkeepers in English football. He has made 336 appearances for Everton and won 92 caps for England.

He has also represented England at the 2018, 2022 and 2026 World Cups, and was the team’s goalkeeper in the finals of UEFA Euro 2020 and UEFA Euro 2024.
