Egypt fall to 25th in FIFA rankings after September-October international break

Egypt have dropped one place to 25th in the latest FIFA rankings after completing their fixtures during the current September and October international break.

The national team played three matches during the period, including two Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers against Angola and South Sudan, followed by a friendly against South Africa.

Egypt began with a goalless draw against Angola before recording a 5-0 victory over South Sudan. They then lost 1-0 to South Africa in their final match of the break.

The results leave Egypt with 1585.86 points and in 25th position in the FIFA rankings.

Ecuador have moved above them into 24th place on 1588.16 points, although they still have a fixture against Panama to play.

Egypt lost 7.03 points following the draw with Angola. They then gained 2.06 points after beating South Africa, while the defeat by South Africa resulted in a further deduction of 6.22 points.

Egypt started 2025 in 33rd place in the FIFA rankings and had climbed as high as 24th before their latest results led to the one-place drop.

Their next fixtures will be against Malawi in the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers in November.
