Manchester United monitoring Youssouf Fofana as Sevilla face European competition

Manchester United are keeping a close watch on Youssouf Fofana, whose performances on loan at FC Sevilla have attracted growing interest across Europe.

The 27-year-old French-Malian midfielder joined FC Sevilla from AC Milan on a loan deal running until the end of the season. His displays have prompted scouts from Manchester United to attend several of his matches, both at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan and away from home, according to Ficherio.

Fofana’s form has also drawn attention from other Premier League clubs and a number of Bundesliga sides. His consistency and influence in midfield have steadily increased his standing in the transfer market.

According to Transfermarkt, Fofana is currently valued at 23 million euros. That figure could rise depending on his performances during the remainder of the season.

Sevilla face financial challenge

FC Sevilla are understood to be looking for a way to make Fofana’s move permanent when his loan ends. However, the financial demands of a deal could prove difficult for the Andalusian club.

Under the current agreement with AC Milan, FC Sevilla are paying only a small proportion of Fofana’s salary, which is estimated at 9 million euros a year. Taking full responsibility for his wages would therefore represent a significant commitment for the club’s finances.

With the loan scheduled to expire in June, FC Sevilla could face strong competition from clubs across Europe for Fofana’s signature. Manchester United and several other English teams are now monitoring his situation, increasing the pressure on the Spanish club to decide quickly whether it can afford to retain the defensive midfielder.

The competition for Fofana is expected to intensify over the coming months, particularly if he maintains his current level of performance.

FC Sevilla’s next fixture is their eighth match of the Spanish league season against Levante.
