A shirt worn by Harry Kane during a landmark Bayern Munich performance has sold at auction for 55,000 euros to a fan from Singapore.
The winning bid beat an offer of 50,000 euros from a rival in the United States. The shirt was worn by Kane during Bayern’s 7-0 Bundesliga victory over Union Berlin, a match in which the England striker reached a historic milestone.
According to German newspaper Bild, Kane scored his 100th Bundesliga goal that night, becoming the fastest player in the competition’s history to reach the landmark. He achieved the feat in his 98th appearance, surpassing the previous record held by Koln legend Dieter Muller, who needed 129 matches.
Kane went on to score again against Union Berlin, taking his Bundesliga total to 101 goals.
Oktoberfest shirt attracts highest bid
The shirt’s appeal to collectors was increased by its distinctive design. It was Bayern’s special shirt for the Oktoberfest celebrations in Munich and had been worn by the club in only one match during the season.
The full auction proceeds did not go to Bayern Munich. Part of the money raised will be allocated to FC Bayern Hilfe e.V., the club’s foundation, which supports people facing difficult circumstances through no fault of their own.
Other shirts worn by Bayern players were also sold during the auction, although none attracted a bid close to Kane’s. A shirt worn by Jamal Musiala sold for 7,292 euros, while Michael Olise’s shirt fetched 5,500 euros.
Kane’s match-worn shirt therefore became far more than a piece of football memorabilia. It represented one of the striker’s most significant moments since moving into German football, combining his record-breaking achievement with Bayern’s emphatic victory over Union Berlin.
That association helped make it the most valuable item in the auction, with the Singaporean supporter paying 55,000 euros to secure a souvenir from the night Kane became the quickest player to score 100 Bundesliga goals.
