Lamine Yamal scored for the third consecutive match in the Nations League as Spain established a 2-0 lead over Czech Republic in their League A, Group 3 fixture at Carlos Tartiere in Oviedo.
The Barcelona forward struck in the sixth minute with an outstanding finish, giving Spain an early advantage against a Czech Republic side still searching for its first points of the competition.
Yamal had also opened the scoring in Spain’s first two matches in the tournament. He scored in the 3-2 victory over England before finding the net again during the 4-1 win against Croatia.
Spain’s second goal arrived in the 35th minute, when Rodri finished after Dani Olmo had carried the ball into the penalty area. Olmo’s move created the opportunity for the former Manchester City player, who placed the ball into the net to give La Roja a comfortable lead before half-time.
Spain began the match at the top of the group with six points from their opening two games, having overcome England and Croatia. Czech Republic were bottom without a point after losing 2-1 to Croatia and 2-0 to England.
The result continued Spain’s unbeaten historical record against Czech Republic. The two teams had met seven times before this match, with Spain winning five and drawing two.
Spain will travel to Croatia for their next fixture in the group, facing them in Split on Tuesday in the fourth round of matches.
