Harry Kane praises England’s ‘incredible’ 7-0 win over Croatia

Harry Kane said England produced their best performance throughout the match as they defeated Croatia 7-0 in the third round of Nations League Group C fixtures.

The England captain, who plays for Bayern Munich, was delighted with the way his side maintained control from the opening whistle to the final one.

“It was incredible from start to finish,” Kane told ITV. “We spoke a lot about the need to play for 90 minutes at the same level and to be completely dominant with the ball and without it.”

England’s emphatic victory moved them to six points, leaving them temporarily level with Spain in second place. Croatia remain third on three points.

Kane, who scored twice, said England’s attacking players had been given the freedom to interchange positions and cause problems for the visitors.

“There was freedom on the pitch for the four of us me, Anthony Gordon, Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka,” he said.

“We are good players and we can play as a number 10 or as a number nine, which makes it extremely difficult for the opposition to deal with us.”

Gordon, Bellingham and Saka also found the net, with Morgan Rogers completing the scoring. Saka scored twice, while Bellingham, Gordon and Rogers each added one goal.

Kane also highlighted the importance of the result, suggesting Croatia had identified the match as a key opportunity in their group campaign.

“Every player produced their highest level,” he said. “It was an important game. They rested a lot of players on Tuesday, and I feel they saw this as their best chance to finish in one of the top two positions.”

The result was Croatia’s heaviest defeat in their history against England.

England’s preparations had also been unusual, according to Kane, who said the squad had spent longer away from the country than ever before.

“It was an unusual camp for us, and we had never stayed away from the country for this length of time before,” he said.

“It was the perfect way to finish the week.”
