Al Ahly have not received an official offer from Libyan club Ahly Benghazi for defender Yasser Ibrahim, according to a source at the Egyptian club.
Reports had suggested that Ahly Benghazi were interested in signing the 31-year-old, whose contract with Al Ahly expires at the end of the current season.
“We have not received any offers from Ahly Benghazi for Yasser Ibrahim,” the source told FilGoal.com.
“We are determined to keep the player until the end of the season because of his technical importance to the team, and we are waiting for his response to the renewal offer presented to him.”
The transfer window in the Libyan league closes on 6 October.
A source close to Ibrahim previously told FilGoal.com that the defender was open to considering any offers made to him because he had not yet reached an agreement with Al Ahly over a contract extension.
Al Ahly have also made clear that they will not change their position in negotiations over the renewals of Ibrahim and Mohamed Hany. The club will not offer additional benefits outside the contract or remove the clause linked to appearances.
FilGoal.com previously reported that Al Ahly’s latest proposal to Ibrahim included an annual salary of 25 million Egyptian pounds, along with a further 10 million Egyptian pounds tied to the club winning trophies.
Ibrahim was injured during Al Ahly’s match against El Mokawloon El Arab in the fourth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
The Egypt international is continuing with a physiotherapy and rehabilitation programme after suffering a sprain to the medial ligament and a tear to the lateral ligament in his ankle.
His availability for Al Ahly’s league derby against Zamalek remains uncertain, with the club yet to determine his final fitness status for the match.
Al Ahly will play Zamalek on 11 October, having first faced Petro Asyut in the opening round of the Egypt Capital Cup.
